What Is Earthseed DAO?
Housing costs for most individuals are getting more expensive because the supply is not able to keep up with demand in most urban areas.
Proposed solution: build a community that co-owns and stewards the land to build a community that is self-sustainable.

âšDAO Spotlight of the week
Gitcoin is where communities unite to build & fund public goods.
Vibe Check: GitcoinDAO is the governing body of Gitcoin, a platform that funds and facilitates development of digital public goods. So far, Gitcoin has awarded $58.2M worth of grants to open source software in the crypto space. Protocols can also fund bounties in order to connect with web3 programming talent eager to help build their project. Gitcoin also offers other services to builders in crypto, including resources for upcoming hackathons, quests to guide your crypto learning, and more.
GitcoinDAO is working to support Gitcoin while continuing to empower the community with governance responsibility. While the Gitcoin Discord is open to anyone, the DAO does request prospective contributors to fill out an application and complete a few steps before diving in. That said, the DAO does have several interesting working groups, so keep reading to learn what theyâre all about!
Channel Alpha: While youâll need to apply to become a contributor to the DAO, hereâs a bit of information on the active workstreams and a few channels that you should check out to learn more.
đMoonshot Collective: This is Gitcoinâs own coordination innovation incubator. This specific working group rapidly prototypes new ideas for useful coordination tools, and is primarily aimed at developers and designers. To learn more, check out the Notion page as well as the #đmoonshot-general Discord channel.
Fraud Detection and Defense: This group works to defend Gitcoinâs legitimacy, credibility and sustainability. Given the gravity of the task at hand for FDD, the onboarding process is a bit more involved. Check out the Notion page and the #fdd-start-here channel for more information.
Merch, Memes and Marketing: As the name suggests, this is the working group for generating curiosity, hype and engagement with GitcoinDAO and its core mission. This workstream has its own application, but if youâre interested definitely check out the Notion and the #đschwag-design channel.
đŠPublic Goods: This workstream facilitates the development and funding of digital public goods. The Notion page details the current initiatives and roles available.
đšDAO Ops: An essential workstream, DAO Ops oversees legal, accounting, onboarding, and everything else that keeps GitcoinDAO running. There are a few open roles on the Notion page, as well as more information about the specific initiatives within the workstream.
đ§ȘDecentralize Gitcoin: This workstream takes existing Gitcoin products and builds decentralized versions of them. For more info, as always, peep the Notion.
Down the Rabbit Hole:
Gitcoin is hard at work building and funding public goods. While the workstreams and initiatives are well organized, there is definitely a considerable amount of information to take in. Follow Gitcoin on Twitter for the latest news and, at risk of sounding like a broken record, spend some quality time with the DAOâs Notion to learn more. You can also take a scroll through the governance forum and keep an eye on the blog for DAO recaps and more.
