We have a mission to inform, entertain and empower anyone who wants to be involved in decentralized communities.

Join us each week for a breakdown of everything DAOs and how you can get involved in the communities building Web3.

📖 Reads of the week

The Purpose of Guilds

Small working groups or “guilds” are working groups within a DAO that have a particular function within the DAO. Three common guilds within a DAO 👇

  • Onboarding: focused on helping new DAO members find where they would like to contribute to the DAO.

  • Education: teaching and upskilling others within the DAO to contribute to a certain task or role within the DAO.

  • Community: Fostering a healthy DAO through events, community calls, communication channels, etc.

Building a DAO to Learn in Web3

Rahul talk about his experience building SpicyDuck DAO (NFT Investment DAO) and the tools they decided to use 👇

  • Messaging: Telegram as the DAO is smaller and not as overwhelming as other popular DAO messaging services.

  • DAO Launcher: Syndicate because of better customer support, legal help and contributors did not need to be accredited investors.

  • DAO Governance: Snapshot and Telegram, for important votes used snapshot but ended up using telegram polls most of the time.

Illegible Enterprises: DAOs, Unwrapped

Currently, there are trade-offs for DAOs becoming a legal entity or staying an “unofficial” entity. Three popular legal frameworks that DAOs can use 👇

  • Wrapper: DAO is fully wrapped within a registered entity that holds the DAO’s assets and members are equity holders.

  • Ecosystem: DAO controls a number of entities to solve some of the legal, political, and financial issues.

  • No Legal Structure: No legal entity

🗳️ DAO Vote of the Week

FWB (social DAO) is voting on a potential partnership with Hennessy which will include 👇

  • NFT drop curated by FWB community (revenue split between FWB and Hennessy)

  • Creative roles for FWB members

  • Cafe 11, a FWB member and NFT holder only lounge experience in LA and NYC

Interested to see the impact of this brand partnership if the FWB community votes to approve the partnership.
